Scala Arts & Heritage Publishers cooperates with MEAKULTURA
MEAKULTURA Foundation is excited to announce that one of its titles has attracted the attention of a foreign publisher, and subject to funding we intend to work in partnership on a new edition of the book for the international market. Our publishing partner is Scala Arts & Heritage Publishers, based in London and New York, who have the means to promote and distribute the book worldwide, and already have an impressive track record of publications with cultural institutions across Poland. Scala have applied for a grant from Instytut Ksiazki and, once full funding is successfully secured and the partnership confirmed, we will have an exceptional opportunity to promote Polish émigré composers across the world. ZAiKS has already offered some financial support for this project, for which we are very grateful, now we are crossing our fingers for the IK’s verdict.
About the book:
100 Years of Musical Emigration: Polish composers abroad (1918–2018) is the first comprehensive treatment of the theme of emigration among Polish composers from the 20th and 21st centuries. The book grapples with the subject in all its complexities, focusing on creators of classical music, but also introducing artists from the fields of jazz and film music.
The first two parts of the book contain lively, accessible articles on the composers, while the third comprises a series of fascinating interviews with experts who discuss the life and legacy of the selected composers, their personalities and anecdotes from their lives.
The authors chosen to contribute to this book are all leading experts in the field of Polish émigré composers. The book will appeal not only to musicians, musicologists and their students, but also historians and general readers. The engaging essays and interviews in the book are complemented by vibrant illustrations.
