Meanders of Baroque

Meanders of the Baroque – musical meetings organized in “Kluboksięgarnia Głośna” in the framework of Poznań Baroque Festival 2013. The initiative was aimed at popularizing knowledge about baroque music. The meetings were addressed both to adults and to children. MEAKULTURA Foundation co-organized the meetings and all the hosts were editorial board members of magazine.

Meanders of the Baroque began on October 22 with a lecture by dr hab. Krzysztof Moraczewski from the “Zakład Badań nad Kulturą Artystyczną” of the UAM’s Department of Culture in Poznan. The meeting introduced the audience to the world of Baroque music. They talked about the basic determinants of this style, about a word, gesture and sound, as well as about music as a speech and about the rhetorical construction.

The second lecture was concerned with the relations between music and filmmaking. The sound and vision moved the participants to the times of great Baroque masters. It was also an opportunity to see and hear how often the music of this era is used in contemporary cinema. Agnieszka Nowok, from the Szymanowski’s Academy of Music in Katowice, was the guide to the world of music and film.

The last meeting was addressed to children aged 7-12 years. Aleksandra Masłowska, from the Mickiewicz’s University in Poznan, talked with the youngest about the baroque music.
